Education
Formally

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts concentrating in Visual Communications with minors in Information Technology Systems and Art Studio in 2014.

During my junior year, I studied abroad at Griffith University Queensland College of Art South Bank in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. That life altering experience changed me as a person and transformed my creative thinking.

Informally

March 2017 I began taking hands-on classes around the Raleigh-Durham (RDU)/Reasearch Triangle Park (RTP), and greater Triad North Carolina areas.

In person workshops, classes, presentations, talks, events, and group sessions were at Pullen and Sertoma Art Centers, Jerry’s Artarama, Artspace, Durham Art Guild (DAG), Imurj, The Frontier Building (RTP), the Art of the Carolinas, Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center, CCCC, Full Frame Theater, Trailblazer Studios, and other venues.

I've been taking online classes since October 2017 starting with a 7-week “Creative Revolution” eCourse by Flora Bowley. After finishing that I added Webinars and eCourses from CCCC, SCORE and others, like a 30 day course on character creation via Monthly by mural artist TenHun, and countless classes via Skillshare, Udemy, Domestika, The Great American Courses Plus, and more!

Learning also happens during artist meetups while making or talking about art with a group of other creatives. I attended many of them including a Creative Accountability Group for Women+ in Chapel Hill, East Wake Visual Artists in Zebulon, Artbudz in the Triangle area, AIGA Raleigh, Casual Creativity get-togethers around the triangle area, Creative Mornings in Raleigh-Durham, Thr!ve in Winston-Salem, and an Indie 101 workshop for emerging artists by Substantial Art, American Tobacco Campus, Durham.

Truthfully I am a perpetual student. I will never stop wanting to learn more because exposure to new concepts and ways of making nourishes my creative thinking process. Also, as I evolve so too does the art I create and that in itself is a great reward.
